Start making plans, packing your bags, and brushing up on your Italian. The 2011 Giro d'Italia will start in Turin on May 7, 2011, and end 22 days later in Milan.

Organizers of the Giro are planning a big celebration in honor of the 150th anniversary of Italian unity. The first stage of next year's race will be a 22 km team time trial in and around Turin, with an individual time trial...finishing at Milan's historic Duomo...on the final day. Molto bello!

The rest of the route was not revealed today...expect that announcement sometime in early December.. What remains to be seen is the route that the riders will take through the Alps and the Dolomites. With a start in Turin, there's a good chance they'll be climbing the Alps in the first week. And with the finish in Milan, it would be a natural to descend from the Dolomites in the third week of the Giro.

Year in, and year out, the Giro is hands-down the best race in the world. 2011 should be no exception.

Youth is served again today in Salt Lake City. Trek-Livestrong racer Alex Dowsett scores his second straight runner-up finish, but takes the overall lead after the first road stage of the Tour of Utah.

Dowsett was second to teammate Taylor Phinney in Tuesday night's short prologue. Today, he finished two second behind stage winner David Tanner of the Fly V Australia team, close enough to give Dowsett the lead in the general classification.

Phinney falls back big-time today, finishing 17:34 behind Dowsett. He's now in 108th place overall. Ouch.

Tanner is second in GC, with BMC teammates Brett Bookwalter, Jeff Louder and George Hincapie in 3rd, 5th and 6th. Levi Leipheimer, riding solo in the Mellow Johnny's kit, currently sits in 7th.

Our photo of the day, from Brian Hodes of VeloImages, is the scene at the start as the peloton rolls out of town in the shadows of Ogden's historic Union Station.

20-year-old Taylor Phinney has proven to be the master of the flat, fast stages of this year's Tour of Utah. Add a victory in Saturday night's 9.2 mile time trial to his win in the opening prolugue on Tuesday. Phinney beats Levi Leipheimer by two seconds, but Levi keeps the lead in the general classification. Phinney is...let's see...in 95th place, 34:44 behind Levi.

Defending Utah champ Franciso Mancebo is second in GC, 1:37 behind Leipheimer, with Darren Lill in third, 1:49 back. Today, the boys will race around Park City for 75 minutes in the Heiden Davidson Orthopedics Crieterium. The Tour of Utah will wrap-up on Sunday.

Trekworld 2008 drew bike dealers from all over the world to Trek's home in Madison, Wisconsin, for a look at some of the best new bits and bling that the sport has to offer.

Andrew Christensen, the owner of the Bici Sport bike shop in Petaluma, California, was one of the lucky ones...he got to see the new Trek tricks up-close and personal.

Lucky for us, Andrew took his camera to Trekworld, and agreed to share his photos with CycleTo.

Take a look at what the teams at Trek have been tinkering with.
