Nearly lost in the crush of people inside the Verona arena on Sunday was one spectator with more than just a passing interest in the outcome of Stage 21, the final stage of the 2010 Giro d'Italia.

Elisa Basso was there to watch her brother Ivan race the final time trial and put the final touches on another Giro championship.

Ivan's 2006 victory came before his greatest defeat...a two-year ban from the sport because of illegal doping. We talked to Elisa before the start of Ivan's time trial, and she wasn't quite ready for any celebrations. But after victory had been assured, her mood changed pretty quickly, as you'll see in the following CycleTo video.

We witnessed a whole lot of things during out time in Italy at the Giro...things that you'd never see in America...and this has to be one of the most unique.

On the cold, rainy, cloudy day that the race rode up and over the legendary Mortirolo, hundreds and hundreds of people made the trek to the top of the pass to watch the riders race past..

They waited for hours and hours, just to catch a few precious seconds of their heroes. How did they pass the time, and do their best to stay dry, before the big moment? We found the most popular place high up on the Mortirolo, in the following CycleTo video.

We all know how to ride a bike, right? But do we all know how to "Ride Right"?

Regardless of your own skill level and experience, everyone can use a refresher course when it comes to the rules of the road.

In Marin County, CA, the biggest cycling event of the year...the Marin Century...is set for August 7th. Thousands of eager bike riders will take to the roads of the county, and the Marin Cyclists and the Marin County Bicycle Coalition want to remind everyone of  the basics of safe cycling,

We're all in this together.  Whether you live in Marin, or anywhere else on the planet, bike safety can make your own rides more enjoyable, and maybe help diffuse some of the animosity that's been built up between cars, trucks and bikes.

Check out the following CycleTo video, and see what it means to "Ride Right."

American Mara Abbott conquered the fearsome climb up the Passo dello Stelvio, leaving the world's best women in her dust and winning the queen stage of the 2010 Giro Donne today in Italy.

Abbott was part of a 15 rider group at the bottom of the 2,000 meter Stelvio climb, but with racers dropping off left and right, it was down to just Abbott and Emma Pooley at the 2 km to go mark. At that point, Mara put the hammer down, gapped the Cervelo Test Team rider and surged to the finish. At the line, Abbott had won by a full 27 seconds. Complimenti!

With just one day of racing left, Abbott leads HTC-Columbia's Judith Arndt by 2:08. No one else is even close. It will all come down to the final stage on Sunday, 112 km in and around Monza.

Forza Mara!

Today at the Tour - Alberto to Andy: "I'm Sorry" vid

Wow...we sure didn't expect this.

When race leader Andy Schleck dropped his chain on the final climb of Stage 15 today, race protocol dictated that no one should attack while the Maillot Jaune had a mechanical problem.

But Alberto Contador did attack, gapping Schleck and taking the race lead at the end of the day.

In a post-race interview, Andy was pissed-off, big time. He told Versus, "My stomach is full of anger, and I want to take my revenge."

But believe it or not, Alberto has apologized. In a personal video posted late today, Contador says he made a mistake, and he's sorry. Say what you will about his character, but this was a first-class move from a guy who had shown little of this kind of maturity in the past.

Want to see all of Alberto's apology? Take a look for youself, in the following CycleTo video.
