Have you ever wondered about the real market value of an authentic jersey signed by a big-time rider?
Track star Taylor Phinney donated one of world champ jerseys to the folks at the USA Cycling Development Foundation. The put it up for auction on EBay, and after a flurry of last-minute bids, the jersey sold this week...for $1,000!
All we know about the winning bidder is his first name...Matt...and his home town...Albuquerque. Congrats, Matt! You now own a great piece of cycling memorabilia, and you've helped the folks at USA Cycling.
If you'd like to contribute to the USA Cycling Development Foundation, go here for more information. |

Lucas Euser was having the best year of his pro cycling life...then everything changed one day on a rainy training ride near his home in Girona, Spain. In the third segment of our talk with Lucas, he goes into detail about what happened when he was hit hard by a car and what it's been like to rehab from that wreck. Euser also talks about his move from the Garmin pro team to the new Spidertch squad, in the following CycleTo audio file. In the final part of our conversation, Lucas takes questions from the audience at San Francisco's Sports Basement, and he gives us the inside info on Steven Cozza, his "ultimate teammate" and long-time NorCal riding partner. |

The basics of bike racing are pretty simple...ride your bike hard, fast and often, and you'll probably win some races. But there's a whole lot more to BMC pre-season camp than just riding bikes.
For the 2010 BMC pro team, building friendships and trust is just as important as building fitness and endurance.
Strength and conditioning guru Todd Herriott was brought to BMC's pre-season camp to work on the team's off-the-bike fitness. He put the team through drills to build their core strength and increase their flexibility, all in an effort to give BMC every physical advantage this season.
But there's another benefit to Herriott's work. While the guys are working out, they're also working together, building confidence in each other...and just having fun.
For more on Todd Herriott's fitness regimen, go here. And watch BMC's George Hincapie, Cadel Evans, Brent Bookwalter, Jeff Louder, John Murphy and Cole House work and laugh together, in the following CycleTo video. |

There is a little bit of Kevin O'Donnell in each and every one of us.
Kevin is a NorCal cyclist and masters road racer. During the last week of the Giro d'Italia, Kevin worked as my driver, confidant and drafting partner in Italy.
In return, I promised to let him ride his DeRosa rental bike as often as possible along the route of the Giro.
Exactly one week ago, on a cold, windy and wet day, Kevin climbed up the back side of the legendary Passo del Mortirolo. He attacked the Mortirolo from the so-called "easy" side, the side that the racers in the Giro would descend on their way down to the finish of Stage 19.
But this was hardly "easy"...even for an experienced hill climber like O'Donnell. Listen to what it was like to master the Mortirolo for a semi-normal person, someone like all of us, in the following CycleTo video.
